PGA Tour 2022 Mexico Open Betting Odds, Favorites to Win and Analysis

The PGA Tour returns to Mexico for the second time in the 2021-22 season, this time around with another new venue. Vidanta Vallarta and the Newman Course will be the host of the Mexico Open this year. The par-73 course will host some of the best players currently in the game of golf.

Mexico is no stranger to golf, as they have hosted a WGC event the last few years in Mexico City. This season, Mexico has hosted two events, the first coming in November of 2021. After a week in Louisiana at the Zurich Classic, the players are ready to be back on their own this week in Mexico.

Let’s take a look at the betting favorites and a few names to look out for this week at Vidanta Vallarta so you can bet against the PGA Tour Odds

Golf Betting Preview for 2022 PGA Tour Mexico Open

Jon Rahm +350

Jon Rahm is the current betting favorite at +350 odds for the week. The Spaniard has not played since The Masters where he finished tied for 27th on the week. Rahm has played in nine events this season and is still waiting for his first win of the year.

Not only is Rahm the current betting favorite, but he is the clear favorite coming into the week. The second best odds start at +2000. If Rahm is looking to jump ahead and collect his first win of the season, this week would be a very good time to do that.

Abraham Ancer +2000

The native of Mexico, Abraham Ancer is in the field this week at the Mexico Open. Ancer shares the +2000 odds with Kevin Na and Cameron Tringale but this tournament has an extra meaning for Ancer. He is not shy of sharing his story about his rise to the PGA Tour and it would be a storybook ending to the week to see Ancer win in his native country.

As for Ancer’s play this season, he has not brought his best game. While he is ranked 20th in the world, Ancer has played in 10 events with only two top-10 finishes. He has missed the cut three times, including his most recent start at The Masters.

Tony Finau +2500

The two-time PGA Tour winner has very good odds this week for the Mexico Open. Finau is still looking for his first top-10 of the season but he has only missed the cut three times this season in 10 starts. In his last start, Finau finished tied for 35th at Augusta National.

Finau is a player that can hang around towards the top of the leaderboard and needs the Sunday push to possibly bring home a win. If Finau is able to hang out towards the top of the leaderboard, I recommend betting on him this week.

Rest of the field

The field is full of young players looking to make a name for themselves this week. There are also a few other names that have already won on tour and they are looking to add another trophy to their collection. Below are a few names and their odds to look at this week.

  • Patrick Reed +3500
  • Cameron Champ +5500
  • Nick Taylor +6500
  • Pat Perez +7000
  • Lanto Griffin +7000
