Top 3 Betting Favorites for French Open | ATP Odds
Rafael Nadal (+120)
Rafael Nadal definitely has done well during the French Open as he has won all but four of the previous 17 French Opens and has dominated throughout his career on outdoor clay courts. He has been excellent during 2022 as he is 20-1 so far in singles competition with three tournament win. This feels like a year where the field could be a tiny bit tougher than last year. He is getting up there in age and that will make it tougher for him to continue being this elite talent. I don’t like Nadal at almost even money here as he is going to have a tougher road and this feels like the end of the road for him in the French Open.
Novak Djokovic (+225)
When you are looking at the singles tennis rankings for the past two years, you will have seen Novak Djokovic as the best player on the court. He won last year’s French Open but has struggled to begin the 2022 year as he is just 5-3 in singles play so far. During the 2021 French Open, he won by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to win his second career French Open title. He has made the finals in two consecutive French Opens, so he has the ability to remain highly competitive here. This should be a good bet to make before the bracket is even revealed. All in all, expect a solid chance to win this tournament for a second consecutive year as he should end up doing so.
Carlos Alcaraz (+400)
Carlos Alcaraz is already ninth in the world in tennis rankings and at just 18 years old, things will only go up for him. He picked up two wins in last year’s French Open before losing to Jan-Lennard Strugg in the third round of the tournament. Alcaraz has done well this year thus far on outdoor clay courts as he picked up wins in both Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona. This could be a big moment as he has gotten the nerves out of his system playing in the French Open and should be able to play his game and control the pace of the matches. He seems to be the next player to take the mantle from guys like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic and pick up a win as the next best player in the world as he continues to ascend while they begin to wind down their careers. He is getting very good odds so sprinkle some on him as he should have a decent road throughout the tournament.
