NFL Betting – Miami Dolphins Calendar Odds & Analysis For the 2021-22 Season

Miami Dolphins: 2020 Season Recap

The Dolphins had a solid 2020 season, finishing 10-6 but just missing out on the final AFC Wild Card spot.

Miami played musical chairs at the quarterback position all season, swapping Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Tua Tagovailoa multiple times throughout the year. Fitzpatrick has moved on to Washington, giving Tagovailoa his chance to prove he belongs.

Thanks to a trade with the Houston Texans, Miami had multiple first-round picks, selecting Tua’s former college receiver Jaylen Waddle inside the top ten.

Miami has the 13th-best Super Bowl odds, at +2500.

The Dolphins’ odds to win the AFC come in ninth in the conference, at +1400.

Miami is tied with New England for second-best odds to win the AFC East, at +300.

Miami Dolphins: 2021 Schedule

The AFC East is a bit more open, with New England entering a transitional phase in the franchise. Buffalo has taken control of the division, reaching the AFC Championship Game in 2020 and seemingly set to repeat their success. The New York Jets are a favorable team to draw twice in one year.

Elsewhere, Miami will face the AFC South and NFC South in 2021. Both divisions are evenly split with good teams and below-average teams. All things considered, it’s a pretty favorable draw. Besides the Colts, Titans, and Buccaneers, there isn’t much guaranteed success coming out of those divisions.

The Dolphins’ schedule is rounded out with games against Las Vegas, Baltimore, and the New York Giants.

The teams on Miami’s schedule:

  • Buffalo Bills (x2)
  • New England Patriots (x2)
  • New York Jets (x2)
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Houston Texans
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • New Orleans Saints
  • Carolina Panthers
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • New York Giants

2021 Season Prediction

Success for Miami in 2021 hinges on the development of Tagovailoa. The second-year passer has a loaded receiver room and a defense on the rise.

The schedule isn’t too menacing, with very winnable games against the Jets (twice), Texans, Jaguars, Panthers, Falcons, Raiders, and Giants.

If the Dolphins can take care of the Patriots after splitting the series a year ago, it might be enough to vault Miami into the AFC playoffs.

Betting on the Dolphins to win the AFC at +1400 or to win the Super Bowl at +5000 comes back to Tua. Do you trust the former Alabama quarterback to put it together after an up-and-down rookie campaign?

Sportsbooks have set the Dolphins win total line at 9.5 wins. To get there, Miami would need to take down the Patriots at least once and likely beat another solid team in the Saints, Ravens, or Colts.

NFL Miami Dolphins Calendar Analysis In 2020

You look at some of the teams who have struggled in the NFL over the past few seasons and you get the idea that they don’t really want to get any better. Sometimes, it’s a lack of activity in the free agent market that is the signal, while some questionable picks at the draft is another sign that there may not be a ton of urgency. One team that does not fall into that category is the Miami Dolphins, as they were serious about getting better this offseason. With Tom Brady no longer part of the AFC East, there is a sense that the division might well be up for grabs this year. Whether the Dolphins can be part of that race remains to be seen.

No-one was particularly surprised when the Miami Dolphins selected QB Tua Tagovailoa with their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. There are some who consider it a bit of a risk given that Tua is coming off a brutal injury in his final season with Alabama. The Dolphins, though, can basically redshirt him this year, as they have veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick still in the fold. It will more than likely be Fitzpatrick who gets the starting job, allowing the rookie to watch and learn before finally taking over this team at the start of the 2021 season.
