Soccer Betting Analysis for Semifinals and Fifth Place Matches

Al Aly SC +400 vs SE Palmeiras SP -149

  • When: Tuesday, Feb. 8

These two have history. Last February, Palmeiras and Al Aly played to a 0-0 draw in a Club World Cup match. The game happened on Al Aly’s pitch.

The rematch happens at Al Nahyan, Al Aly SC’s pitch. No doubt, the home team has an edge. But Palmeiras has won 4-of-5 with a 1-1 draw versus Sao Bernardo on Jan. 29. The Brazilian Serie A team should have no trouble beating Al Aly and marching to the finals. Palmeiras wins this in regulation.

FIFA Club World Cup Pick: SE Palmeiras SP

Al Jazira +420 vs CF Monterrey -185

  • When: Wednesday, Feb. 9

CF Monterrey is the higher-seed and the more name squad. Monterrey is one of the better teams in the Mexican Liga. So it’s unnerving that they fell to Ahl Aly in their last.

Al Jazira lost to Al Hilal. We’d give Al Jazira a shot to beat an unmotivated Monterrey team, but the loss to Hilal was downright pathetic. The FIFA Club World Cup semifinalist dominate Al Jazira 6-1. Monterrey should win this no problem. Give the chalk the nod.

FIFA Club World Cup Pick: CF Monterrey

Chelsea FC -1 ½ -133 vs Al Hilal Rijad +1 ½ +101

  • When: Wednesday, Feb. 9

On Feb. 5, the Blues beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1. Overall, Chelsea has gone 3-1-1 in their last 5. 2 of the 3 wins were versus Tottenham, 1-0 on Jan. 12 and 2-0 on 23.

On Jan. 18, Chelsea drew 1-1 with Brighton & Hove. The loss happened 1-0 in a match against Manchester City on Jan. 15. It’s obvious Chelsea should dominate. But the Blues aren’t likely to be overly motivated to win this game.

Al Hilal Rijad became the first 4-time winner of the AFC Champions League in a 2-0 victory over Pohang Steelers on Nov. 23. The 6-1 beating they handed Al Jazira on Feb. 6 impressed big time.

Chelsea should win. But they might struggle to win by more than a goal. The Al Hilal Rijad handicap is the best play.

FIFA Club World Cup Pick: Al Hilal Rijad
