Saturday, Nov. 21st Races
Churchill Downs
- Grade 3 Chilukki Stakes – 1 mile dirt – $100,000
Five should sign up to contest the 1 miles over dirt in the Chilukki Stakes on Saturday. The horse that figures to attract the most action is the Bill Mott trained Grand Cru Classe. Gold Standard, trained by Brad Cox and Whoa Nellie, trained by Larry Jones, should also garner plenty of action.
Aqueduct Racetrack
- Grade 3 Red Smith Stakes – 1 3/8 miles turf – $100,000
2019 Red Smith winner Sadler’s Joy figures to get the most looks to repeat in the 2020 version. Sadler’s Joy has yet to win a race this year. He has been running against horses like Channel Maker, though, the third place finisher in the Breeders’ Cup Turf. Also, it looked like he won the Grade 2 Bowling Green, beating Channel Maker, before the stewards disqualified him from first to fourth.
Del Mar Racetrack
- Grade 3 Native Dancer Stakes – 1 1/8 miles dirt – $100,000
Combatant, Stellar Sound, Royal Ship, Midcourt, and Extra Hope should all enter the starting gate for the Grade 3 Native Dancer at Del Mar on Nov. 21. Midcourt won last year. He could go off odds-on this year. He finished third behind Improbable and Maximum Security in the Grade 1 Awesome Again in his last.
Sunday, Nov. 22nd Races
Aqueduct Racetrack
- Staten Island Division – 7 furlongs dirt – $100,000
Last year, our Super Nova, Fair Regis, and My Roxy Girl finished 1-2-3 in the New York Stallion Series Staten Island Division race. Since the event is for 3-year-old fillies and up, the connections for last year’s top 3 finishers could decide to run their contenders again.
- Thunder Rumble Division – 7 furlongs dirt – $100,000
The top 3 finishers from last year’s Thunder Rumble, My Boy Tate, T Loves a Fight, and Binkster all remain active. The three geldings could resume their rivalry on Sunday.
Del Mar Racetrack
- Cary Grant Stakes – 7 furlongs dirt – $100,000
2019 winner Fashionably Fast hasn’t run since contesting the Grade 1 Bing Crosby on August 1. The Dean Pederson trainee figures to go off the favorite in this non-graded stakes should the underrated trainer decide to start him on Nov. 22.
